"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
‘Magic Mushrooms’ Can Improve Psychological Health Long Term
“The psychedelic drug in magic mushrooms may have lasting medical and spiritual benefits, according to new research from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.” I completely agree. Even the dreaded “bad trip” is useful, has something of value to teach. When talking to people about managing negative emotions, depression, etc. in their lives, it is the “bad trip” that I often use as an example. The most important thing to remember in a “bad trip” situation is to breathe, know that there is a time limit on the situation, it will pass, so hold steady, be still, and don't do anything irreparably stupid. And, that is exactly the deal with sorrow and depression, though on a bit longer timescale. Breathe, remember time and distance will work, by this time next year, it will be better. Five years from now, even better and you'll probably even laugh a little at how upset you were right now. Be still and don't do anything irreparably stupid, avoid making major decisions that don't have to be made right now, and so on. It will be all right.
