Why Are Whites Cowardly When It Comes to Race?

For Black History Month, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder recently gave a speech to employees of the Department of Justice in which he said, 'Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards. Though race related issues continue to occupy a significant portion of our political discussion, and though there remain many unresolved racial issues in this nation, we, average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race." (It always makes me laugh when very wealthy and powerful politicians and 'public servants' like Holder refer to themselves as 'average Americans'!)

Being a white person, I can't speak for non-whites. However, I don't see where blacks and other non-whites are shy about speaking openly about race and for their own racial interests. Blacks have many race-based organizations to promote their best interests such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (which by its very name means the advancement of everyone who is not white), the United Negro College Fund, the African-Americans Patrolmen's League, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, etc. When I used to work at Verizon, every February they would hold activities celebrating Black History Month. Black co-workers were openly talking about the beauty and strength of their black race. They clearly did NOT have a problem talking about race. Likewise, the Latinos are not shy about their race and openly promote their race with organizations that vigorously work for their best racial interests, such as the National Council of La Raza. La Raza literally means, 'The Race.' It seems the only people afraid to openly promote their own racial interests are white people. As a side note, it's kind of difficult for whites to know what name to use when referring to blacks as the above names of the black racial organizations indicate. Is it colored people, negroes, African-Americans or blacks?

The first time I was directly involved in a racial incident, other than when I was five or six and our family was part of the white working class exodus known as 'white flight' that drove millions of white workers from their homes in cities across America in the late 1950s and well into the 1960s, is when I was in the last phase of Marine Corp boot camp in 1973. Our platoon guidon/honor man, who was the recruit the Drill Instructors selected to be the recruit leader of the platoon, was black. One time when we were ordered to clean the floors of the barracks and the Drill Instructors left us alone for awhile, the platoon honor man and all the black guys were sitting around talking with each other instead of working while all the white guys were still working and cleaning. When one of the white guys stopped working and tried to join the black guys, the platoon honor man started yelling and cursing at him to get back to work, which he did. None of the white guys resisted, including me. The reason I didn't is because I didn't want to do anything that would get me in trouble and postpone my graduation from boot camp. I was infected with careerism. There were other anti-white racial incidents in boot camp.

When I got to Okinawa in 1974, I was shocked to see black guys wearing black power tee-shirts and racist slogans embroidered on their jackets. One shirt read, 'Put a gun in the hands of a black man and look out, whitey!' It had an image of a black hand holding a gun that was shooting a white man in the head. Our captain, who looked a lot like my Swedish no-nonsense Distinguished Service Cross-winning grandfather, said he was going to hold a company meeting to address the problem of Marines and their slogan-covered civilian clothes. My hopes were very high that he would take care of it. However, at the meeting I was very disappointed. He said we were Marines and none of us were white, black or brown--we were Marine green. He then said he didn't want to see anymore Polish Power, Irish Power, etc. slogans on our civilian clothing! The white guys weren't even wearing anything that was racial in any way. Of course, his little talk did absolutely nothing to correct the problem. I later realized that he was close to retirement and probably didn't want anything to interfere with his pension, like being charged with racism, etc. He suffered from careerism, too.

One time while on Okinawa , a black guy who I was acquainted with prior to joining the Marines asked me if I could lend him $10 and he'd pay me back when we got paid. I lent him the money and then about two weeks after we got paid, I was broke and asked him for the $10 back. He was with a group of other blacks and he got in my face and yelled, 'Fuck you and your money! You want me to turn nigger on you?' I looked at him in disbelief and looked at his 'brothers' and walked away.

I'd be very surprised if I'm the only white person who has experienced things like these. Experiences similar to these, and much worse than these as a white friend and fellow Marine of mine on Okinawa experienced when he was so brutally beat by five or six black guys while the black Camp Guards (they were like military police) stood by and did absolutely nothing that he was even bleeding out of his ears, tend to make white people shy away from racial discussions! I don't know if Holder took realities like these into consideration when he gave his speech.

If Holder was honest, I believe he would admit that he wants to further beat down and intimidate white working people. The government's anti-white programs like affirmative action and quota programs are governmental institutionalized anti-white racism. For decades white people have been taught through the government, schools, the media and most 'revealed' religions that white people being racially aware is racism and is morally wrong and evil. Hypocritically, at the same time these same institutions were and are promoting racial awareness for non-whites and calling it racial pride.

I remember a few years ago George W. Bushit classifying white racial awareness as un-American. He was pontificating that America was founded as a democracy where all people are equal. Of course, anyone familiar with American history knows this is not the truth. America was founded as a white republic, not a multi-racial democracy. Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution classified black slaves as three fifths of a person. The word 'democracy' does not appear anywhere in the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution. Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution does not guarantee a democratic form of government to the states, but a 'republican form of government.' And it's very likely that when Thomas Jefferson penned the words, 'all men are created equal' in the Declaration of Independence, he was only meaning white men/white people. If you read his Notes on the State of Virginia, you'll plainly and clearly see he did not believe in racial equality.

Holder is upset that the government-initiated and instituted forced racial integration by rifle and bayonet point is largely limited to schools and the workplace and the military. He wants the races to mix more. He said, "Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not in some ways differ significantly from the country that existed almost 50 years ago. This is truly sad.'

I don't know if this means he wants to use the government's military force again to bring about the racial utopia he and Obama envision for the rest of us or not. He doesn't need to rely on force to push racial integration further because soon white people will be a minority in America.

One case of violence against a white high school student that should alarm white Americans is the organized attack on Justin Barker in Jena , Louisiana in 2006. His six black attackers, led by football player Mychal Bell, knocked him unconscious by attacking him from the rear and hitting him in the back of his head and then relentlessly kicking him and stomping him while he lay knocked out on the floor unable to defend himself. To me this is not a fight, but a heartless and vicious ambush. To Holder's boss, Obama, this was just 'a schoolyard fight.' This doesn't look like Obama and Holder put much importance on white people. Will this attitude encourage white people to want to engage in open talk about racial problems?

The fear many white people have of openly and honestly discussing race will probably get worse for awhile as the economy continues its death dive and they fear even more for their careers and income. However, after enough white people lose their careers and income, they will no longer have that fear holding them back. At that point, even the peer pressure of being labeled a white racist will be gone for many. They will probably start to form organizations founded for their own racial wellbeing just as the non-whites have been doing. It is not far-fetched to believe that at that time, with the federal and state governments severely weakened, we will see the balkanization of what was once the United States of America along racial and/or religious lines.
