American police state: officer may be fired for protecting young man from police brutality
Submitted by Serenity on Mon, 2012-04-23 02:00
Let no good deed go unpunished. officer stops another one from beating an emotionally disturbed 22 year old and is harassed for doing so. should be the officer who engaged in brutality fired but that isn't the american way anymore. injustice and torture are the new norms.

I object to the repeated (and repeated) phrase "emotionally disturbed." The police are not gods. They have no way of knowing before the beating/Tasering/shooting whether a civilian is emotionally disturbed, or mentally ill, or deaf, or autistic, or, in most cases, innocent or guilty. If they were required and expected to treat each and every one of us like human beings worthy of respect, they wouldn't have to.
