"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Carl Watner, RIP
He wrote the introductions to STR's Non-Voting and Civil Disobedience archives a decade ago. He was a giant who will be dearly missed.

The one and only time I ever spoke with him "in person" was by telephone last summer. He shipped me a box full of old back issues of The Voluntaryist, and I sent him some voluntaryist.com stickers I had made up. He was such a nice guy, and made great contributions to the libertarian movement. He will always be missed. :-(

Evidently, either Ian Freeman (Barnard) and/or Pete Eyre won't allow me to post the very same comment about Carl Watner that you see above on the freekeene.com article. What the hell gives?
Sorry to hear that. I haven't been in touch with anyone in that bunch for years.
