"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
The Cognitive Dissonance Surrounding Donald Trump
Submitted by Melinda L. Secor on Mon, 2018-06-04 00:00
"The cult of celebrity has never been more prominent in politics than it has the past decade. Starting with Barack Obama, something changed in the American view of presidential leadership. With Obama, there was an element of naive adoration that leftists largely embraced. Obama was more than a president — he was an idol. Unfortunately, I am also seeing some of the same behavior in elements of the conservative population when it comes to Donald Trump."
