I thought this had to be a joke, but after finding it reported on dozens of apparently reputable sites it unfortunately looks like it's true.
Oh, it was an accident. And the thug was suspended for 3 days!

What do I think? My first thought is "are you sh!##in' me?!" As a former law enforcement officer (20 years, US Army Military Police), I can't even ~imagine~ an act this stupid occurring. Moreover, I can't imagine this officer not all but spontaneously combusting under the rain of fire that ~should~ have fallen on him from his chain of command, much less ~still being employed~ months later when the lawsuit hit. Unfortunately, this seems to be exactly the kind of insanity that's becoming commonplace these days.
