"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Fed Crisis Borrowers Ranged From Bank of America to McDonald’s
A provision in July’s Dodd-Frank law supposedly overhauling financial regulation requires the Fed to post the crisis lending information on its website. “Perhaps most surprising is the huge sum that went to bail out foreign private banks and corporations,” said Senator Bernard Sanders, the Vermont Independent who wrote the provision on Fed disclosure, as quoted by the New York Times (registration required, but any name will do). Most people were against those bailouts… though I expect they still think they live in the home of the free. Free to shut up and pay the bill.
