"First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me."

Submitted by Sharon Secor on Mon, 2013-07-29 01:00
So true. According to Will, “forty-seven percent of Detroit residents are functionally illiterate.” That is just amazing to me. And, some of them vote, most without more than the slightest understanding about the issues at hand. If you can't read, you can't have in-depth knowledge.
