"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Lebanon Airport Qualifies for $1m in Federal Funds for Improvements
Submitted by Bradley Keyes on Fri, 2013-01-04 01:00
An unfortunate New Hampshire example of how the federal system for pork is gamed:
Imagine a federally subsidized regional airline that drops their prices to $12 a flight at the end of the year, thus loosing more money, in order to get their passenger trips for the year above 10,000 so they can qualify for an extra $800,000 in federal aide for the airport.
You just can't make this stuff up.
