"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Bush Rejects Hill Subpoenas, Citing Executive Privilege
""President Bush has formally refused to comply with congressional subpoenas seeking information related to the firings of nine U.S. attorneys last year. In a letter today to the chairmen of the House and Senate Judiciary committees, White House counsel Fred F. Fielding said the administration will not hand over White House records related to the firings, and Bush was prepared to assert executive privilege to prevent two former senior White House aides from testifying in the matter." Of course he has refused, that seems to be his standard response to any insinuation that he is subject to laws and the Constitution."
