"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Sanchez: US Can Forget About Winning in Iraq
Submitted by Melinda Secor on Thu, 2007-06-07 15:00
"The man who led coalition forces in Iraq during the first year of the occupation says the United States can forget about winning the war. 'I think if we do the right things politically and economically with the right Iraqi leadership we could still salvage at least a stalemate, if you will -- not a stalemate but at least stave off defeat,' retired Army Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez said in an interview." War profiteers on both sides of the political aisle are winning, no matter about the rest of the world.
