"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Sex Is Cheap
An interesting read. Demographics, as is pointed out in the article, has a lot to do with it, or so it seems to me, judging by my experiences. Coming from a higher female to male ratio place to my spot in the desert which, according to the US Census, has a significantly different male-female balance – for every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 139.2 males – I’ve been amazed at the differences I’ve experienced. (And, believe me, those demographics attracted my attention during the choosing a destination period, ha, ha, ha) Maybe it is a difference between northern and southern cultures, but I think a lot of what I experience here is due to men valuing what seems to be a bit scarce here… women. None of that casual disinterest, Game-Theory crap down here. Nope, those “impressive wooing efforts, longer relationships” that the article bemoans the loss of are alive and well down here, and amazingly so.
