"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Supreme Court Refuses to Take Reporter’s Case on Revealing Confidential Source
Submitted by Emmett Harris on Mon, 2014-06-02 23:00
“A district judge had said Risen did not have to testify. But a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit in Richmond disagreed in a 2 to 1 decision. The majority said that under Supreme Court precedent, the First Amendment does not protect reporters from revealing who supplied them with unauthorized leaks.” Authorized leaks (propaganda to you and me) must be just fine, ensuring citizens know only what their overlords allow.
