"Patriotism is a kind of religion; it is the egg from which wars are hatched." ~ Guy de Maupassant
Times Change, Principles Don't

"...the libertarian critique of government is not contingent on or tied to time and place, one that can be abandoned when the moment seems to call for government action. The libertarian critique of government is foundational. It says that in all times and places, the coercive power of the state violates rights, and this compulsive rights-violator cannot and should not be trusted to guard our security."

At last, someone has stated it correctly, "...the coercive power of the state violates rights...", instead of all the ridiculous, nonsensical and endless versions of "the state has a monopoly on violence" diatribes.
And, this article can be summed up with this lovely little quote, reportedly from Benjamin Franklin.
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
