"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
The U.S. Is A Police State
“Any state, be it a dominate Empire or not, can exist only when the vast majority of the people are satisfied with their lot in life or are resigned to it. The U.S. central state needs the cooperation of the more than 300 million people — be it enthusiastic or sullen cooperation. The people of the USSR brought down the communist police state without bloodshed by simply withdrawing their consent to be ruled by the system. It was an unbelievable sight at the time. We can do likewise. Withdraw your consent to be owned by the state,” wrote Mark.Stoval of On The Mark. To that, I can only add my usual, continuous plea to please, please, please stop paying them. Stop giving the State and its minions money. My near constant refrain, refuse to pay and refuse to comply, to the highest degree each of us can (because sometimes a certain amount of compliance has to be given to avoid prison or worse), but it really is that simple.
I really enjoyed the way Stoval proved his premise, step by undeniable step. I've long said that what's going on here is obvious to anyone who wants to see. However, most people don't want to. They don't want to see. They don't want to know. Denial, despite the mental contortions necessary to achieve it, is easier for many than resistance, which can be uncomfortable, inconvenient, risky, lonely, time-consuming and, sometimes, frightening. Denial is easier than acknowledging acquiescence and acceptance. It's easier than admitting that choosing to do nothing is implied consent. Every penny of tax money paid to the State is a coin of consent, consent to and material, cash support of murder, torture, brutality, and the near endless list of other vile, cruel, unjust, criminal acts the State and its agents perpetrate against humanity, against people not only in far away lands, though their distance is no justification for ignoring it, but also right here in the place we call home, each and every day. And, make no mistake, one day history will judge the “Good American” just as harshly as it does the “Good German.” In fact, I think it already does.
