Column by Travis Irvine. Exclusive to STR The other week, in addition to the usual celebrations for the ridiculous holiday known as Groundhog Day, the citizens of Texas celebrated another slightly-less-ridiculous holiday on Feb. 2: Chris Kyle Day. I'm not sure what traditions would stem from such a holiday (if you snipe a person and it's a terrorist, do we get 6 more months of war in Iraq...

Column by Travis Irvine. Exclusive to STR These are the times that try journalists’ souls. While Thomas Paine was the American patriot who proved the power of the press, it was arguably the penman of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, who truly understood and fought for freedom of the press. “Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press,” Jefferson once wrote...

Edward Snowden is on the run, Bradley Manning is on trial, the AP’s emails have been hacked and Rolling Stone journalist Michael Hastings is dead. It seems like your attempts to stop intelligence leaks – via the whistleblowers who...

As I ate my Turkey Rueben Special, I glanced up at Fox News on the television, which was headlining two stories: Benazir Bhutto had been killed in Pakistan, and a killer tiger had escaped from the San Francisco zoo and attacked someone...

Exclusive to STR The late comedian Bill Hicks once said that the struggle in Iraq was never a war, because a war is when two armies are fighting. Hicks said this in 1991, during the first Gulf War, but his statements could ultimately be true about the conflict in Iraq today -- one extremely-well funded army is using the best military technology in the world to fight a group of religious zealots...

Exclusive to STR Washington D.C. is often referred to as the ugly person's Hollywood. Likewise, Hollywood is full of scum sucking trash who don't care about anyone except themselves. So really, the two were made for each other. They're like sisters. Two spoiled sisters who America watches intently, even though deep down, nobody knows why. Let's call them the Hilton sisters! Currently,...
