"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken

"Like many others who share his worldview, Rex Duncan eagerly supported George W. Bush's invasion of Iraq, in which U.S. military personnel -- most of whom were Christian, many of whom were Jews -- were used to install Sharia Law at gunpoint. This is leading to the religious cleansing of Iraq's Christian population, many of whom are part of congregations with roots going back to the apostolic era. "

To the degree that there are people who both voted for this law banning courts from using or considering Sharia Law AND also are supporting the naked body scanners and sexual molestation now being done by TSA agents; to the degree that there are people who fall into both categories - I agree it is very hypocritical. The law itself however, from a minarchist perspective at least, is not bad. The text on the ballot stated "It forbids courts from considering or using international law. It forbids courts from considering or using Sharia Law." So, in other words, the only thing it does is RESTRICT what courts can do. So long as we exist in a paradigm where the state exists, I am all for restricting the powers it wields as much as possible.
It is also important to note that this law does not increase the number of bombs being dropped on innocent people.
