Seduced by Bush: It Must Be the Church Water

When this writer last reported on the First Family, daughter Jenna was gyrating around in a thong at a Lower Manhattan night spot.

Since then, First Lady Laura Bush has informed the White House Correspondents Association dinner that she, Lynne Cheney and Condoleezza Rice recently had girls' night out at Chippendales, a famous strip club featuring male dancers.

Now, World Net Daily has reported that Mary Carey, a porn star, will attend a fundraising dinner with Dubya on June 14.

I am not making this up. Our Grand Exalted Phantasmagorical Christian President Whose Job It Is To Raise The Nation's Moral Bar And Instill Christian Values In Millions Of Homes From Maine To Hawaii will be dining with a porn star.

Had Bill Clinton eaten dinner with a porn star, Rush Limbaugh would deem it the scandal of the century. Bill Bennett would proclaim the death of western civilization.

But, no-o-o-o-o-o, this is a Republican president who talked about Jesus once or twice. To raise these issues is to 'nitpick' at his "imperfections.' Besides, 'God lifts up imperfect men to fulfill His purposes.' If Dubya were a Democrat, he would be a socialist reprobate who just happened to get 51 percent of the votes in a morally bankrupt nation. But because he is a Republican, he is immune from all moral scrutiny.

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

That Dubya even got his party's nomination was the political equivalent of an intentional walk. Since then, his followers ' especially his evangelical Christian followers -- have given him more free passes than Barry Bonds could ever possibly dream of.

Since Dubya took office the federal budget has grown by 33 percent. Had Al Gore presided over such fiscal recklessness, Bush groupies would be calling him Kim Jong-Al. But since Bush and the Republicans are responsible, they don't talk about it. (Yes, Bush had a Democratic senate for his first two years but, no, he never vetoed a single bill they sent him.)

Over 1,500 of the 1,700 Americans who have died in the Iraq War have died since Dubya landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln and proclaimed 'Mission Accomplished.' If the mission was accomplished, shouldn't the troops have come home the next day? Perhaps it depends on your definition of 'mission accomplished.'

If we were talking about Al Gore, the same folks who heap endless praise on Bush would demand that Gore be impeached, convicted and crucified for being the most incompetent, knuckle dragging scumbag ever to stink up the Oval Office. But this is Bush, so they laud him as "a great wartime president.'

Bush supported a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage -- a dumb idea. Yet, he has appointed more homosexuals to federal office in just over four years than Bill Clinton did in eight years.

Bush groupies think he opposes abortion. Yet, the partial birth abortion 'ban' he signed so narrowly defines this ghoulish procedure that it only protects the baby for ten seconds out of a nine-month pregnancy.

But Bush said something about Jesus back in 2000.

And when he did so, millions of Christians disengaged their brains. Many would rather die than read or hear an unkind word about their Great Christian Leader.

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

Scripture tells us to love God with all our heart, soul and mind. Christianity does not mean intellectual suicide. We are to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing and to inspect the fruit on people's trees. (Matthew 7:15-20)

Here is a conspiracy theory: After Dubya talked about Jesus "touching his heart," he had his henchmen spike the water in evangelical churches across America with chemicals designed to kill those brain cells responsible for discernment.

It is the only thing I can figure out. Why else would millions of otherwise intelligent people so blindly follow a man whose actions are so un-Christian?

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

Help me out here. I am looking for answers.

The Apostle Paul warned (II Timothy 4:2-4) of a time when Christians would disdain the truth and surround themselves with ear ticklers who would tell them whatever they wanted to hear. This brainless adoration of Dubya by so many millions of Christians is evidence of this.
