Ratification in New Hampshire

"In 1787, when asked about his opinion of the Philadelphia constitutional proceedings happening in secret, Patrick Henry famously replied, “I smell a rat!”Henry opposed the proposed Constitution because he feared it would centralize power in a strong national government. This put Henry at odds with the Federalists, who viewed the existing Articles of Confederation as an insufficient yolk to bind the several states into “a more perfect union.” But Henry was not alone in his opposition. Many throughout the newly independent states shared his fears. Collectively, they came to be known as Antifederalists, and New Hampshire had a strong contingent."

This video captures the Seabrook Police Department abusing an individual.  Their laughter towards the end is truly disgusting.

Greenspan Says Bitcoin a Bubble Without Intrinsic Currency Value

“It’s a bubble,” Greenspan, 87, said today in a Bloomberg Television interview from Washington. “It has to have intrinsic value. You have to really stretch your imagination to infer what the intrinsic value of Bitcoin is. I haven’t been able to do it. Maybe somebody else can.”

I suppose Greenspan should know all about bubbles, since he created them when he chaired the FED.  And is he truly oblivious to the lack of value behind a fiat currency?

Halloween Haunts in New Hampshire

"The Shining was a Disco-era bestseller from Maine's Master of Macabre, Stephen King, but it was the foreboding grandeur of the Overlook Hotel and Jack Nicholson's portrayal of dangerous dull-boy Jack Torrance that made The Shining a part of modern culture. Saudi Cleric Says Women Who Drive Risk Damaging Their Ovaries

"A conservative Saudi Arabian cleric has said women who drive risk damaging their ovaries and bearing children with clinical problems, countering activists who are trying to end the Islamic kingdom's male-only driving rules."

"In an interview published on Friday on the website sabq.org, Sheikh Saleh bin Saad al-Lohaidan said women aiming to overturn the ban on driving should put 'reason ahead of their hearts, emotions and passions'."

Yes, let's give reason a chance, but that would lead us in the opposite direction of bin Saad al-Lohaidan.

Poll: Americans Reject GOP Shutdown Strategy

"Americans really aren’t crazy about Obamacare — but hate the Republican approach of closing the government in an effort to repeal it. ... The Quinnipiac University national survey found that the public is split on the Affordable Care Act, with 47 percent opposed to it and 45 percent in favor. But Americans, by a lopsided 72-22 percent margin, say shutting down the government is not the answer."

If shutting down the government -- really shutting down the government -- isn't the answer, then the question wasn't worth asking.
