DARPA Offering US$50,000 for Shredded-Paper Puzzle Solutions

DARPA's new "Shredder Challege" is soliciting input on how to best put back together shredded documents, noting that "Today’s troops often confiscate the remnants of destroyed documents in war zones, but reconstructing them is a daunting task." Crowdsourcing has proven to be an effective way to reach a solution. But should we be wary when it's utilized by an agency of the Department of Defense? Do you want a more-efficient surveillance state?
