"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
How About Some Gun Control For the Police?
As the Brady Campaign PR often says, a “good first step” would be to start preventing police from having any equipment or weapons that would be illegal for an ordinary person to own or possess without a special license or permit. Barrett Firearms, and some other companies adopted this practice a few years ago after the LAPD pushed to ban their products in California, and then turned around and tried to buy some of these now banned products for their own arsenals. But LAPD’s order was declined. Barrett et al. decided that they would no longer sell to any police agency if that agency’s local laws don’t allow private ownership of the same items the cops are seeking to buy.
