"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Is 8 Too Young For Makeup?
Well, I guess it depends on what kind of woman you want to raise. My girls spend their time on less girlie-girl bullshit, preferring (by far) to learn how to fix broken pipes, how to use an ax properly, how to construct a hog pen, how to garden, how to cook from scratch, outside on a fire if need be, and assorted other pursuits. In other words, they spend their time acquiring real skills and racking up significant accomplishments, instead of practicing face-painting in an effort to ape whatever pop-tart is currently popular or learning that their attention should be focused on how they look, rather than on who they are and what they can do. I am confident that our end result will be better than that of those that encourage and/or allow their girls to get caught up in the whole mind-set that comes with make-up for 8-year-old children.
