"?At a news conference outside the mayor's office, Sharpton threatened to turn Daley's Olympic dream into a nightmare unless his demands are met. He called it the height of ?arrogance? that Daley had chosen [FBI agent Jody] Weis without input from the African-American community, which is most victimized by both crime and police brutality.? The good reverend should keep in mind that the cops brutalizing blacks in this city are sometimes themselves black ? and white cops don't necessarily limit themselves to beating only those innocent people who are black. I fail to see the logic of how ?input from the African-American community? in selection of a police chief would somehow lessen police brutality of blacks ? or of anyone of any race, for that matter. The problem is the government-issued badge, not the race of the man wearing it."
